http://www.faisalalmutar.com/2015/11/16/i-am-a-jihadist-and-i-am-tired-of-not-being-given-credit/It must be incredibly frustrating as an Islamic Jihadist not to have your views and motives taken seriously by the societies you terrorize, even after you have explicitly and repeatedly stated them. Even worse, those on the regressive left, in their endless capacity for masochism and self-loathing, have attempted to shift blame inwardly on themselves, denying the Jihadists even the satisfaction of claiming responsibility.
Its like a bad Monty Python sketch:
We did this because our holy texts exhort us to to do it.
No you didnt.
Wait, what? Yes we did
No, this has nothing to do with religion. You guys are just using religion as a front for social and geopolitical reasons.
WHAT!? Did you even read our official statement? We give explicit Quranic justification. This is jihad, a holy crusade against pagans, blasphemers, and disbelievers.
No, this is definitely not a Muslim thing. You guys are not true Muslims, and you defame a great religion by saying so.
Huh!? Who are you to tell us were not true Muslims!? Islam is literally at the core of everything we do, and we have implemented the truest most literal and honest interpretation of its founding texts. It is our very reason for being.
Nope. We created you. We installed a social and economic system that alienates and disenfranchises you, and thats why you did this. Were sorry.
What? Why are you apologizing? We just slaughtered you mercilessly in the streets. We targeted unwitting civilians disenfranchisement doesnt even enter into it!
Listen, its our fault. We dont blame you for feeling unwelcome and lashing out.
Seriously, stop taking credit for this! We worked really hard to pull this off, and were not going to let you take it away from us.
No, we nourished your extremism. We accept full blame.
OMG, how many people do we have to kill around here to finally get our message across?
The author must have been reading some of the silliness posted here on DU.

(8,207 posts)"Why did he do all these things? Many assume that these fighters are motivated by a belief in the Islamic State, a caliphate ruled by a caliph with the traditional title Emir al-Muminiin, Commander of the faithful, a role currently held by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi; that fighters all over the world are flocking to the area for a chance to fight for this dream. But this just doesnt hold for the prisoners we are interviewing. They are woefully ignorant about Islam and have difficulty answering questions about Sharia law, militant jihad, and the caliphate. But a detailed, or even superficial, knowledge of Islam isnt necessarily relevant to the ideal of fighting for an Islamic State, as we have seen from the Amazon order of Islam for Dummies by one British fighter bound for ISIS."

(7,107 posts)ISIS owns their behavior. Stop making excuses for them or blaming other for their murders, rapes, and kidnappings.

(710 posts)hey give their own interpretation of Koranic verses as a reason for what they did.
Huge majority of Muslims world wide don't agree with the Jihadist interpretation of the Koranic verses they sight as justification or their attacks.
So no matter how much you try to blame Islam for the acts of psycopaths, its not the religions fault that some pyscopaths have decided to distort the Koranic verses and build their own little sects under the guise of Islam.
I say little sects because if even though these terror groups have large numbers, in comparison to how may people around the world practice the peaceful form of Islam, these sects are small portion of the Muslim population world wide.

(8,207 posts)Because I did not say or link to anything blaming Islam for the acts of ISIS.
Oops, sorry I was meant to reply to the op.
I get confused every now and again because I am running around as fast as I can to try to keep up with and educate all the xenophobes that inhabit this site these days.

(7,107 posts)Of course as an athiest, I'm not afraid to blame any religion.
Educate yourself on some of those "interpretation of the Koranic verses ". They are pretty black and white.
Step one of your education: Just read the verses on non-believers and how Muslims should treat them.

(710 posts)Let me give you one example of how extremists interpret Koranic verses to fit their agenda and get their followers to do what they want them to do.
Take the issue of Jihad.
Jihad has 2 forms, one being the internal struggle against sin, the other being the fight to protect the religion.
I'll deal with the second form as this is the one that extremist interpret in their own way to justify their terror actions.
Extremists convince (many are actually brainwashed) impressionable people that the terror acts they commit are a form of defending the religion thus guaranteeing them a place in heaven. Because their distorted message is one that gives the follower an easy path to heaven, the follower is happy to lose their own life in the process because they think that they will go straight to heaven.
What these extremists don't tell their followers is that the religion states that killing just one innocent person is the same crime as killing all of humanity, meaning they have committed the biggest sin when they blow themselves up in a crowd of innocent people this there is no way they will see heaven when they die.
The true form of violent Jihad that the religion advocates is only for those that take up arms against the religion, meaning that a Muslim is allowed to kill to protect the religion BUT only kill those that first attack them and who are armed against them.
This doesn't fit the extremists agenda so they distort it and convince impressionable people of their own version which they include the killing of innocents as well.

YUSUFALI: Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority: their abode will be the Fire: And evil is the home of the wrong-doers!
PICKTHAL: We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve because they ascribe unto Allah partners, for which no warrant hath been revealed. Their habitation is the Fire, and hapless the abode of the wrong-doers.
SHAKIR: We will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they set up with Allah that for which He has sent down no authority, and their abode is the fire, and evil is the abode of the unjust.

YUSUFALI: Allah did indeed fulfil His promise to you when ye with His permission Were about to annihilate your enemy,-until ye flinched and fell to disputing about the order, and disobeyed it after He brought you in sight (of the booty) which ye covet. Among you are some that hanker after this world and some that desire the Hereafter. Then did He divert you from your foes in order to test you but He forgave you: For Allah is full of grace to those who believe.
PICKTHAL: Allah verily made good His promise unto you when ye routed them by His leave, until (the moment) when your courage failed you, and ye disagreed about the order and ye disobeyed, after He had shown you that for which ye long. Some of you desired the world, and some of you desired the Hereafter. Therefore He made you flee from them, that He might try you. Yet now He hath forgiven you. Allah is a Lord of Kindness to believers.
SHAKIR: And certainly Allah made good to you His promise when you slew them by His permission, until when you became weak-hearted and disputed about the affair and disobeyed after He had shown you that which you loved; of you were some who desired this world and of you were some who desired the hereafter; then He turned you away from them that He might try you; and He has certainly pardoned you, and Allah is Gracious to the believers.
