Their problem is that when you use fear to motivate voters, they are more likely to vote for who they think can "keep them safe".

Looking at the current crop of GOP clowns - I mean "candidates" - there isn't anyone among them that inspires confidence that they can tie their own shoelaces, much less handle a terrorist crisis.

I know Republican voters can be dumb - but even they won't be looking at Ted Cruz or Rick Santorum and thinking, "Hey, here's THE guy who can keep the country safe!"

but this is exactly how GWB got re-elected.

I agree about the attention span - no one knows their history, nor cares.

Just have to keep saying this over and over -

Not only did they lie their way into Iraq but when they got there, they completely screwed up the invasion and the occupation - Bremer and his cohorts made huge mistakes which have led to the rise of ISIS.

They are fear-driven. Republicans know how to manipulate this and are willing to do so.

And an October surprise.

Some act of desperation at the last minute that will make the MSM say "Hmm,
what about this?"
The GOP and the MSM always get a tight bond in October.

Scratch Trump and Carson. Same for Cruz and Rubio.

Thus, for Christie or for Bush to climb from the ditch, a lot of work is needed.

Kennedy won in 1960 by claiming there was a "missile gap" between the Soviet Union and the U.S. There was not but it was the Cold War and people bought it.
