Watching Charlie Sheen

1) He said he doesn't know how he got it, but that he's never used IV drugs.

2) He's known for about 4 years

3) He's told all his partners since diagnosis and has used condoms. Yes, his partners were often prostitutes.

4) He said he hasn't infected anyone and hasn't been sued, but has been extorted by people he trusted. One of the prostitutes took pictures of his HIV meds in his bathroom and threatened to sell the pics to the tabloids.

5) He said he has paid millions to keep people quiet but as of today he's not paying any more.

6) He said he continued to have sex with prostitutes after finding out because he was profoundly depressed and turning to anything for comfort.

7) He said the whole "winning" and "tiger blood" episode was "roid rage" and happened before he found out about the HIV.

As far as I know, all the other kids came out okay, but some say every family has a black sheep. I know my family has one.

This is a quote from son Emilio referring to the time when the family was in the Philippines while Sheen was filming Apocalypse Now

"My father and mother, neither of them cared if Larry Fishburne [Martin Sheen's teenage co-star] and I jumped in a jitney and went to Manila for the weekend," he said. "President Marcos was in power, martial law was in effect, and you were shot on sight if you were seen on the street after 1am. What were they thinking?'"

Estevez said he recently asked his parents that question: "Their reply was, 'We had four of you. If we had to lose one, we would. We were just trying to survive.'"

I can't find that to be anything less than shocking, and certainly not indicative of good parents or "a good man". JMHO.

Because I had read about both well before his announcement.
