I have had a Syrian neighbor for 10 years and don't see any difference in her than me.

Why would you refer to them as "The Other"?

anxiety. The refugees are providing that target because such people will always obligingly hate whoever they're given permission to hate by propaganda media. Even Tejana Susana, our Texas teabagger governor, has climbed onto that sick bandwagon.

The point to these attacks is generally that they're carried out by groups of ISIL wannabes. Online and via that glossy magazine put out to recruit them they're told to attribute any attacks on foreign soil to ISIL to make that organization seem larger and more powerful than it is.

The truth is that ISIL is slowly being defeated on its home turf. They've failed to win the hearts and minds of the people they've conquered. Their misdeeds are well known by everyone along with their wholesale slaughter of fellow Arabs.

At least one of the attackers was a refugee from Syria.

This is exacerbated because most of them are Muslims, and many frightened people have a tendency to blame Muslims for this.

It is Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

Despite thousands of foreign volunteers, jihadist ideologues say IS forces are 90 percent Iraqi and 70 percent Syrian in its two main strongholds, where they have about 40,000 fighters and 60,000 supporters.

I think it makes even more sense to ban the French from coming here. Some of them are terrorists, you know.

... gets sillier and sillier all the time.

What a political gift to the right-wing Repuglicans, to Trump, Carson, Cruz, et al.

Do Democrats care about keeping America safe or are they more concerned about housing issues for Syrian nationals?

Maybe simplistic, but we live in the age of simple-minded social media and politically speaking Democrats are looking pretty wimpy right now. We aren't talking about very many Syrian refugees in the big scheme of things, but this is a political minefield Democrats are wandering into, in my estimation.

The population of Syria is 22.85 million people. Based upon the estimates you provide, there are 100,000 ISIS members and supporters, 70% of which are Syrian.

So, 70,000 out of 22.85 million Syrians supports ISIS. That's 0.3% of Syrians, yet you condone the stereotyping of Syrians as terrorists.

1. Learn some math
2. Stop being afraid
3. Develop some empathy
