Home Depot CEO: Minimum Wage Increases Kill Jobs: Remember that When You Shop There

http://ringoffireradio.com/2015/11/13/home-depot-ceo-minimum-wage-increases-kill-jobs-remember-that-when-you-shop-there/

Former CEO and Co-founder of Home Depot Bernie Marcus appeared on Fox News on Wednesday to argue that the proposed $15 minimum wage is a “killer” and should not be raised.

Marcus’s rationale was based upon a misguided idea that people who work minimum wage jobs are just kids looking for a little bit of pocket money rather than Americans in all walks of life who have bills to pay and families to support....

Of course, in an ideal world, a family man with two kids would be able to work at a job where he make a sufficient amount of money to support a family, but the ideal world disappeared shortly after Marcus’s stint as a server became a distant memory. Gone are the times when a person could support themselves at a modest job in order to work through school; Gone are the times when minimum wage matched inflation; Long gone are the times when a single income was sufficient to comfortably support a family of four.

In the 21st century, nearly every person must slog through the endless monotony and stresses of a minimum wage job to work toward a better paying and more rewarding job. And yet, there are countless people who will never make it past that point; People who receive a ten cent pay raise, or no raise at all, after a full year of hard work. People who will never see anywhere close to the level of security and comfort that Marcus has existed in for his entire life.

I've found that out to be the case. Always knew that CEO was a hard-ass authoritarian right-wing asshole too.

As more workers struggle to make a living wage, Home Depot will struggle too.

After??

I tried to warranty a $14.00 wrench. They had the replacement in stock & when I purchased the wrench it carried a lifetime warranty.

New CEO told them not to honor the previous warranty & my $14.00 wrench was denied. I almost had the cops called I was so PO'd....

I had over 3K worth of the tools & a large rollaway. Most of which I still own.

I have NEVER shopped there since almost 12 years ago. They have lost well over 10k in purchases I now make at Lowes.

Stupid maneuver IMHO.

Anyhow-Do not shop at Home Depot. Simple as that...

What happened to cause those times to go away, I wonder? WHY is it this way, hrm? Perhaps there were decisions made along the way that brought us from that 'ideal world' to the one we currently inhabit? What were some of them?

I'm sure there was nothing that could have been done. It just had to go away, natch. Just what happens. ¯\_(ツ _/¯

9. I've never seen more than 10 workers at any Home Depot I've gone into

10 workers * 15 dollars/hour * 8 hours/work shift = $1200 a work shift for a store. I'm pretty sure they can afford that in all stores.

Where was he when his buddy walked away with 450 million golden Parachute. And how many million went to the farce of Election Recount in Florida that ended up with George the Bumbling Idiot as President. Some where north of a 100 million? When you worry about payroll, rather than training and giving your employees the tools to increase sales and profit, you have already started the death spiral of your company. Your Employees are you best customers. Example:Wal Mart and their own employees shop else ware if they can.
