Day of the Trumpites (a short rant)

Yes, Virginia, there really are zombies. Today, those zombies are Trumpites -- ignorant, scared people who follow a loud-mouthed bully who has no real solutions to anything. A man who craves only absolute power.

There have always been Trumpites, in every era, and in most places around the world. A bombastic, self-confident man arises in times of uncertainty, fear, and drastic change, and the zombies listen. They see what they think is salvation and they cheer for their new found “Great Leader.” They scream for the flesh of “The Other,” never noticing the yokes being placed around their own necks.

Donald Trump, like many who have gone before him, is a dangerous man who could conceivably win the power he craves. I know, I know, it seems highly unlikely. But even a casual glance at history should dispel the idea that the improbable can’t happen.

Many of us know that there are countless people who will consistently act against their own interests. We’ve watched in amazement as they vote for those who will suck the marrow from their bones.

So what do we do? All we can do is work as hard as we can to see those who hold our values and beliefs come to power. And at the same time, hope that the virus that inflicts the Trumpites doesn’t spread to a sufficient number of people to tip the balance against sanity.

They are unable or unwilling to make a connection between the challenges faced by any president and the knowledge and behavior of Donald Trump. In a democracy, that is disastrous.” Howard Gardner, Harvard Graduate School of Education

This is from an article explaining that many psychologists, worried about Trump's success among GOP voters, are breaking standard professional practice to publicly confirm their belief that he suffers from a serious personality disorder.

I also just read that a new GOP group's plan to bring him down is about to be implemented. I'm guessing Trump heard too because he's once again pointed out that he has not ruled out an independent bid for the presidency, potentially splitting the conservative vote.

And I'm sure Trump would run as an independent if he felt the GOP dissed him. I think he really wants to be president (king). And if it's not him, he couldn't give a rat's ass which party or individual wins.
