the same ones who are denying Syrian refugees access to their states? It didn't take long to prove that the whole "All Lives Matter" really meant "White, Male, Heterosexual, Protestant Lives Matter." But we knew that.

Wasps can and will rob honey from your hives but will also eat your bees. They have strong sharp mouth parts that can cut a bee in half. They carry this back to their nest and offer this to the wasp larva, who in turn secrete a sugar substance that the foragers are addicted to.

(6,960 posts)For 90 percent of Americans who get up in the morning, go to work, worry about paying the bills, come home and do the housework, then get to bed about 11:00PM, the idea that saying or believing that "All Lives Matter" makes you a white supremacist is insulting and ridiculous.
Most folks (and the latest polls show this) also think there ought to be rigorous screening of refugees.
This may not be a popular observation here, but you know it is the truth.
It might be inconceivable on DU that a Trump or Cruz could get elected President, but if among the general electorate Democrats, liberals and progressives become too identified with the 'pc' far left then it becomes a genuine possibility that the White House goes Repuglican.
I'm just saying that it is important to stay in touch with regular folks and what they are concerned about if you want to win -- it still is the economy, the cost of health care, minimum wage, etc.

(22,271 posts)I don't even know where to begin.
So, NOWHERE did I say that believing "All Lives Matter" makes you a white supremacist. It makes you a person who harbors racist beliefs and have chosen not to even try to evolve on the subject. Two different animals so that's your first straw man.
Second, nowhere did I say that we shouldn't screen refugees. President Obama has stated, time and again, that refugees are already screened and the fact that they've been coming here since about 1991 en masse and NOT ONE has committed a terrorist act should tell you something. We have had, however, hundreds of terrorist attacks right here in the good ole' U.S.A. and few of them have been foreigners. Most of them we've grown right here in 'Murica.
I don't give a fuck what the rednecks have to say about being "PC." Anyone who supports Trump or Cruz is booger-eating stupid to begin with and we probably shouldn't be using them as a bellweather for what is or is not politically/socially wise policy.
Finally, I think it's fascinating that you think DUers aren't also "regular folks."

(37,748 posts)The bubble you reference... it seems to envelope you rather than this website. Your denial of nuance to the "regular folks" similarly seems to be more a self-indictment of the same elitism you imply everyone else of harboring.
But no doubt, maintaining the pretense you have absolute knowledge of the "90 percent of Americans who get up in the morning..." certainly allows you the high pedestal to climb upon and allow to us little more than unsupported and shorthand allegations.
Bubble indeed, little friend.

(6,960 posts)Go over to the UFCW hall and try making the argument that 'all lives matter' means "White Power."
Have coffee with the older guys and gals at McDonald's tomorrow morning and argue with them about how we deal with ISIS is less important than how many Syrian refugees ought to be let in the country.
When I post and comment on DU I know I am inside the bubble of people who inordinately pay attention to the nuances, intricacies, and esotericism of progressive political issues. There isn't anything wrong with that, but self-awareness is important; where you are matters.
Because the electorate is in a surly mood, in my estimation, and liberals and progressives can get so wrapped-up in knee-jerk leftism that the 2016 election can be in peril ... and we simply cannot afford a Trump or Cruz presidency.
