Man beaten by San Antonio PD officers paralyzed after complications from surgery

http://www.kens5.com/story/news/investigations/i-team/2015/11/20/man-beaten-sapd-officers-paralyzed-after-complications-surgery/76120736/

A man beaten by three San Antonio Police officers last year is paralyzed from the chest down after complications during surgery to repair his injured spine, his family confirmed to the KENS 5 I-Team.

Roger Carlos, 43, was paralyzed during surgery November 3 at a San Antonio area hospital.

Doctors have performed multiple surgeries on Carlos's neck and upper spine to relieve pain and pressure from herniated discs, following his May 2014 beating at the hands of two SAPD SWAT officers and a drug task force officer....

"People need to stand up and say something about it. Just because a police officer has a right to do something like that based on a law that protects them, it's not right, it's not right," Ronnie said.

He doesn't even have a criminal record. They need to write him a nice fat check. Glimmer of Hope Nov 2015 #2
That, and send the offending officers to prison for it. Iggo Nov 2015 #3

It was a case of mistaken identity and he complied with the officers orders, per that article.

and not paid by the taxpayers or a Police Defense Fund.
If the cop can't pay.....off to debtors prison....
Hopefully in General Population.

Until the cops are held PERSONALLY accountable for their crimes,
the Union or Defense Fund will cover their asses.
Until we can make them put their skin in the game (personal assets) to pay fines and reparations, nothing will change.

As long as we continue to allow cops to hide their names and Badge Numbers,
they are no longer representing The LAW, but some perverse gang that is immune from consequences for crimes up to and including Murder and Torture.

This MUST stop,
and the only was to STOP it is to hold the bad cops personally accountable for their crimes and brutality. THEY must personally pay the fines and restitution from their personal assets.
THAT would force them to think twice.

I would also like to see Police salaries DOUBLE, and make a 4 year degree in Psychology,
Negotiating, non-violent resolutions, Personal Responsibility, Criminology, Ethics, and accountability MANDATORY for passing the Sargent exam.

Other than the victim.

"Hey. Don't look at us. We were protecting and serving."
