This is how german "Conservatives" treat immigrants:

I'm not talking about that weirdo new Neo-Nazi party, the "AfD", who happen to harbour conspiracy-theorists and hate the mainstream-media... They poll at 9%.

I'm talking about the mainstream Christian Democratic Union of Angela Merkel.

The CDU is preparing a bill to set out certain cultural demands prospective immigrants would have to accept.

- Equality of men and women.
- Secular law trumps sharia-law.
- The state Israel has the right to exist.
- There will be NO religious exemptions to laws that outlaw gender-, sexuality- and religion-based discrimination.

I presume they don't actually mean that literally.

Or are they seriously suggesting that if I apply to be a priest or a rabbi, they're not allowed to refrain from ordaining me just because I'm not religious?

I also think it's shameful to demand that people recognise Israel's right to exist - that's a wholly legitimate issue to disagree on.
