certainly the flat tax as "moderate" or centrist positions.

This seems to be putting the full weight on "the small people" and giving the wealthy and the corporations a free ride on their shoulders. This is a complete nightmare when you consider how small a share of both income and wealth the bottom 80% have and by the time you reach the bottom 40% there is about nothing there.

Talking about class warfare, it looks like Brownbeck just lobbed a nuke. The people of Kansas shouldn't even wait for an election, they ought to be massing on their capital with torches and pitchforks.

This is also proof again that they don't give a flying fuck about any deficits, other than loving to create them and using them as a convenient cudgel against spending they don't like, usually because it potentially hinders them making an exploitative profit in a given area.

They may also feel this is a stepping stone to their dream fee for service model which of course keeps the wealthy from being burdened with taxes, figuring fees will account to a small percentage of their money because at least the luckier "small people" will have to be able to pay for some level of service and more importantly that a tidy profit can be made providing the services, particularly in a wild west environment.

This kind of thing is exactly why the "meet in the middle" folks are naive to the point of effective stupidity. There is no fixed position unless one accurately predicts the universal boundary on greedy, stupid, and evil and sets up camp within eyeshot of it.

"Meeting in the middle" consistently expands the right, shrinks the left, and increasingly makes "middle" yesterday's extreme right.
Thanks fucking idiots, you have created a political frame where Alan Simpson is a moderate voice of reason. Keep it up and in no time Paul Ryan will be "centrist".
