CNN Essentially Identified One Of Deceased, No Name Though

This afternoon they interviewed a pregnant PP patient who went to the center with her boyfriend for an ultrasound. He left the facility to get the car, while she was about to walk outside herself when the shooting started. One of the staff said that someone was shooting outside, and when this patient looked out the window, she could see him approaching the building with his weapon.

She hid inside an unlocked room, and a bullet actually went through the wall while the shooter was in the hallway. He never entered the room where she and another lady were hiding.

She texted her boyfriend during the shooting, but he never replied. She has not spoken with him since, and neither has his sister. The sister phoned his # and someone picked up, said nothing, and then hung up.

Combine this with a witness outside who saw the shooter shoot a car that was driving by, where the driver fell out of the vehicle bleeding profusely.

According to the girlfriend, police have not given her or his sister any information, this was as of today. I do find that repulsive, if true, and also very curious that they are singularly focused on the cop who was killed.

I'm willing to bet that the families have not been notified, otherwise word of their names would have surely leaked by now. I think it's a certainty that this patient's boyfriend is sadly one of them. If they can let the killer's name out there, it shouldn't take 72 hours for the non-cop victims to be identified. They sure didn't waste any time in naming the cop so we could hear what a wonderful person he was and his life story. Certainly the story of the victims deserves to be heard while the full media focus is on this event.

If he was indeed killed, the police might have notified his family. We know nothing about the people involved. Not to mention, they are likely in shock.

The officers name is easier to get it , but until the autopsy is complete, the state will not release the names of the victims.

The girlfriend said that his sister has not been able to get any information either. This girlfriend was noticeably worried about where her boyfriend was, although she was trying to stay optimistic.

Seems kind of cold and callous to me that they would wait for an autopsy to notify those closest to the deceased. That's a stupid law.

I guess cops are special, so they get instant memorials.

more than likely contact. All the medical privacy laws that everyone wanted really makes it hell. If the boyfriend did not have a wallet with drivers license it is even worse. And if the notify in case of emergency is not a relation, then that contact can't be used. I found that out at my doctors office. I could not use a friend as an emergency contact it had to be someone I was related to.

7. The names are not released to the media

It does not mean the next of kin are not contracted ASAP. In fact it's to prevent some family member from finding out their son or daughter or whomever was killed via TV.

Quite frankly, it would be nice if officers and their families had the same respect.

Why does everyone feel they need to know everything instantly? What part of this demands that you HAVE TO KNOW the names of everyone involved right now? How is it going to change the story whether you know someone's name today or tomorrow or next week?

This is what the media does to us. It's fucking grief porn basically. It sickens me to have to sit there as the media plays sappy music and shows candid and hear everyone's life story and death served as ENTERTAINMENT and the hopes and dreams snuffed out by these monsters.

6. I have no idea why you feel entitled to information about private citizens killed at all, much less

instantly. There are laws and also the fact that family wishes should have some place in the equation ranking higher than public curiosity. Cops on duty are not private nor anonymous, they wear name and number IDs on their persons, duty rosters are also public record.

9. How about the GF I saw on CNN was Black so her BF could be (have been?) Black and ironically

the Black man was one of the people killed and the shooter (white boy) was not killed.

I have followed this closely and understand that the cops sorta did not HAVE A CHANCE to shoot Mr. Dear but WTF???

Its all by chance but:

KILL 3 PEOPLE AND YOU LIVE, RUN AWAY FROM THE COPS AND GET SHOT 16 TIMES???

....if the PP murderer is part of a network of anti-choice terrorists (believe me, they exist) or if he was a stochastic terrorist inspired by a combination of the voices on hate radio/the Internet and the voices in his head. For this they need him to be alive.

This is quite separate from the cases of cops gunning down or otherwise killing young unarmed black men, which urgently has to stop.
