I'll stack that up against any of R-Money's achievements.

(115,732 posts)was on account of affirmative action, according to the GOPers. That's why they want to see his grades - to prove that he wasn't really a very good student and that he got into good schools and got to be president of the Law Review because he got special handling on account of being black. After all, black people aren't actually smart enough to go to Harvard Law School, let alone make Law Review.

(46,733 posts)the consensus was that blacks did not have the mental ability to be quarterbacks. That's why there weren't any in the NFL.
I didn't realize that that kind of thinking was common in the area.

(31,518 posts)His answer was just as you described. They weren't smart enough. It was the accepted attitude at the time. It's still hard to believe that anyone actually believed it, but they did.

(4,788 posts)lost his job as a commentator on a TV sports show because of a "he's not smart enough 'cause he's black and he got to be quarterback because of affirmative action" riff on Donovan McNabb, then QB for the Eagles. If I recall TIAKARL gave the standard GOP apology of "I'm sorry if you were offended."

(12,157 posts)that Aryans aren't naturally superior. It comes down to that.
And of course, this is also designed to drown out questions about Willard's tax returns and Cayman Island tax shelters. BTW, I just checked the status of this and saw that, according to R-Money's draft 2011 tax return he "earned" $4,099,156 in interest alone!! Holy fuck...

(1,039 posts)Someone could make the claim that he was given the President of Harvard Law Review for popularity reasons (kind of like the Nobel). What cannot be argued is that he graduated Magna Cum Laude. That requires that he have top 10% grades and the tests are blind graded. Anyone that can't see that he's very smart is, well, very stupid.

(32,064 posts)Law Reviews have different ways of choosing members - sometimes it's grades, sometimes faculty is in charge, sometimes a mix of factors. Someone from Harvard Law would have to weigh in on how the selection process worked at that time.
