If you have ever been unfortunate enough to bring in a load of fruit flies on fresh corn, broccoli, onions or whatever from your local farmer's market, that graphic can cause a lot of undue fingerprints on your screen.
Really, the gif lost "clever" years ago.

(16,038 posts)That bug was in use by one poster only since I used a desktop to get on DU....that was like 5 years ago.

(45,319 posts)don't allow us to enjoy that flung crap. Are you a bug swatter type? I assume so. Your bug swatter is not as annoying to my eye as the bug but it still sucks.
Siglines blocked for years due to that one guy's bug.
I believe in community.

Don't know what a bug swatter is and really don't know the ins and outs of the issue and don't ever involve myself in such things here...

(30,676 posts)i found the other bugs an amusing synchronicity.
As a heart patient, I try no to get upset about little things.
My advice to you is to do the same. A heart attack is no joke.

(19,568 posts)I've hid all of the damn bugs and the flyswatters. The former because it was a genuine irritant to me visually, and the latter because it was only fair if I hid the other. Not to mention it was a tacky GIF in the first place.
I've had to hide a few other signature GIFs in the past, too. They were either too loud visually for me, or too distracting. Some of us have issues with things like that. It's not a testament of our feelings to the people who chose them. It's just that they bother the living hell out of some of us.
Do you remember MySpace and all its atrocious HTML people thought they were so smart and "in" for using? I despised it and avoided it at the time, much to the displeasure of my peer group. Similar thing here, just a different decade.

(45,319 posts)and a few others, and due to my own bad eyes. I'd love to enjoy the rest of them, people talk about them and say 'see my sig line' all the time.

(4,959 posts)and pick 'Block image' and it is gone. (and if you don't already use it, I recommend it - free, and blocks a lot of ads)
Since it seems like a lot of posters are using the same source for the gif, doing it a few times makes it go away.
I didn't mind it when it was just the original person using it but once it and the flyswatter became prolific I started hiding them whenever i saw them.

Why expect others to change something they all like when you can do something to make them go away on your own?

(65,616 posts)How can you take away their bugs and flyswatters I ask you? I don't think it is a bug as much as a feature of the site. Some get the spray.
Many people here lost 'clever' status long ago...oh right the bug I mean.

(24,853 posts)They're all over the place. I've even modified them so they crawl off the screen. In fact, they're crawling off the keyboards and onto the fingers of certain DUers at this very moment. Give 'em long enough and they'll crawl all the way up to your elbows. They're creepy, but it's so cool to watch.

(14,733 posts)posted without comment an OP containing an excerpt of an article from another site that suggested that people who really supported Bernie should sign a pledge to write in Bernie's name in the general, if Hillary won the primary. Admins took this as a tacit declaration that he/she supported this idea, and ppr'ed him/her. And, btw, admin has made it clear that the ToS part that talks about not being allowed to diss the nominee after both party's nominees are known, does not actually have any such time limitation, and proclaiming "believably" that you will not vote for Hillary should she win the nomination will get you banned even now, long before the actual nominee is known. Now whether or not that means that anyone who gets banned now for refusing to support hypothetical Hillary is to be reinstated if Bernie wins the nomination has not been said.
awoke_in_2003
(34,582 posts)is that other people decide what you think about something. And if she does win the nomination then we better damn well vote for her, or Trump will be naming the next Supreme Court Justice (or two)
