Non-lethal hand gun

"We developed SALT because we needed a better way to keep our families safe after a tragic shooting took the life of a young man just steps from our home. Now, our greatest hope now is that SALT can help your family the way it has helped ours."

I'm not out to pan the idea but one flaw I already foresee is if you were to accidentally hit a wall nearest you instead of a potential home intruder. You could end up incapacitating yourself and make it easier for the intruder to subdue you.

One way around that might be to always use the Salt gun in conjunction with a gas mask and goggles or just never miss.

I think the statistic is that a woman has a 75% greater chance of being killed by her partner if there is a gun in the house.

main. But I applaud any effort to offer a less lethal alternative for the few who really give a darn about self-defense. Maybe, overtime, kids will reject their dads' efforts to turn them into gun nuts, and all that goes with that.

Pepper balls fired from paintball guns are nothing new.

They are greatly overstating the effectiveness of it- it's not instant, and it doesn't fully incapacitate. You better gave handcuffs or other means to restrain someone fast and the trainibg to use the restraints.

Pepper balls like that deliver a smaller dose of the chemical irritant than regular pepper spray delivered to the face, and usually hit on the chest so it's even less. Your better off with pepper spray and it's cheaper.

That said any chemical irritant is not always effective. A person on some drugs will seem unaffected and a person who really wants to can still function. I've had people I sprayed still fight hard. At my old department our yearly qualification to carry pepper spray was to be sprayed in the face with the same spray we carry, then we had to run 30 feet, shoot 10 shots at a target at 15 feet hitting at least 7, run back to the start point, order a suspect down and apply handcuffs- in under 60 seconds.
