Ralston boy with special needs plays, scores in middle school basketball game

RALSTON, Neb. —Michael Madej, a boy with special needs, volunteers for several teams at Ralston Middle School. He's been the boys basketball team manager for two years.

“He’s the best manager that we could have,” Ethan, a Ralston Middle School student, said.

Michael is a leader, the team says, constantly encouraging and supporting the Ralston Rams.

“I thought, let’s give back to Michael and recognize him as part of the team,” Ralston Middle School boys basketball coach Malachi Behrens said. Behrens had recruited Madej to be team manager, after teaching him in elementary school and seeing his passion for sports.
