(32,685 posts)he has my respect.
I was stopped some years back for driving at 3:00 in the morning, nothing else. Cop asked if he could look in my van(search) I said no. He said why not if I have nothing to hide. I told him I have nothing to hide, I have lots of time and you are paid by the hour. I then went on with a very long story about how I was stopped in Detroit back in 1973 and asked the same thing. My story went on for at least 15 minutes about how I had a load of antiques and the cops dumped my stuff on the sidewalk breaking lots of stuff. Told my lawyer that I wanted to sue them and he told me there was nothing I could do because I told them to go ahead. He said never, ever consent to a search. I went on some more, the cop got tired and let me go.
I was nice about it and smiled the whole time.

(32,685 posts)I just like to waste their time and make them think about it and wonder how did they ever walk into my trap. I love to play along with those scammers that call my phone number. Make them waste their time until they find out I'm on to them and set them up. Kind of like a fun hobby for an old fart like me. My only rule is to always smile and act stupid. It's only an act.
