OTOH we have no idea if police violence now is higher or lower than in the past (I could see arguments for either one, but police departments sit on this data way too tightly).

But, yes: we have never been safer from gun violence than right now. I don't know why that easily verifiable statement gives people so much heartburn.

Go to any upstate NY gun store and you have to take a number.

Numerous 1st time buyers there too.

Some NYT editor thinks....Why wouldn't a news paper print an actual news story on the front page of a newspaper? Maybe facts aren't on their side?
