9. I think the advertising they buy in the ILA's newsletter at least deserves a glance from the IRS

There is supposed to be a firewall between the NRA's regular funding and their lobbying activities, but the allegedly overpriced advertisements they buy in the ILA's newspaper does probably deserve a second look. (Which for all I know has been taken and found legal.)

They hate Democrats for the most part.

Isn't Ted Nugent on their board? He wants to kill Liberals.
Why do you defend this organization?

I am a member of the Liberal Gun Club.

I'm not defending them, I'm asking a legitimate question, have they violated IRS laws?
If so, then they should be prosecuted, if not, then what's the big deal?

Tedophile would shit his pants the first time he came up against an armed, combat experienced liberal, as many of us on this board are.

... just step over the bodies, don't slip in the blood and move on.

The NRA is engaged in promoting and maintaining a climate of terror in America. An America where you are more likely to die by a random good guy's stray bullet, an unbalanced legal owner's vendeta or toddler's curiosity than by a Muslim terrorist.

8. There is something to see, but it's the NRA-ILA, not the NRA

They keep their finances fairly separate, although they do siphon some money to the NRA-ILA by advertising (at inflated rates) their magazine in the ILA's newsletter.

7. Now, check the NRA-ILA, which is what people here actually mean when they say "NRA"

The NRA per se doesn't do any lobbying, and its funding is separate from the lobbying wing. The literal NRA just runs co-operative insurance plans for gun ranges, runs a gun safety education program in schools, and IIRC puts out some kind of magazine. It takes money from those insurance plans, as well as from the state chapters.

The NRA-ILA is the one that makes endorsements, lobbies Congresscritters, and solicits (and receives) huge numbers of donations every time there's a mass shooting.

Did they overpay? Was this some kind of "earned income" for nonprofits? Some kind of subsidiary?

This form is beyond my tax knowledge.
