Jeb Bush took to "Fox & Friends" Monday morning to further demonstrate his blindspot when it comes to Christianity.
"The idea that somehow there are radical elements in every religion is ridiculous," Bush told the Fox News crew. "There are no radical Christians that are organizing to destroy Western civilization," Bush claimed.
Bush was speaking out against President Barack Obama's plan to defeat ISIS, and Hillary Clinton's claim Sunday that There are radicals, people who believe all kinds of things, in every religion in the world.
The former GOP frontrunner ignored the murder of three people, including a police officer, allegedly by Robert Lewis Dear on Black Friday at a Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic, just ten days ago.

(13,616 posts)For so many years, people though Jeb was "the smart one." Instead, it looks like he really IS dumber and weaker than his brtoher, and that is a low low low bar to crawl under, LIMBO LOW.
What is scary is that regardless of his standing in the primary horse race, he is far from over. Jeb has the money, and his ego will not let him lose, and be branded the GOP Ted Kennedy as opposed to his brother's GOP JFK.

Radical Christians don't need to blow themselves up in America, Jeb. They're the ones in power and inflict their wounds by legal means here.

But to many, religion can do no wrong, and anyone who acts badly in the name of religion isn't a "true" whatever. I'm so tired of this privileged response.

In the space of less than a week, the United States experienced two completely unrelated, yet similar, terrorist attacks. Robert Dear shot up a Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs on November 27, killing three and wounding nine. Syed Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, blasted away an office party at a regional center in San Bernardino, California, killing 14 and wounding 21, on December 2.
Both Dear and Farook were American citizens. Both were apparently motivated by an extremist religious ideology. Dear is a radical evangelist who had a history of intimidating people with his extreme Christian views. Malik pledged allegiance to ISIS (DAESH) the morning of their attack.
-snip-
Yet, American right wing news used the two attacks to obfuscate the religious motivations of Dear and condemn Islam generally in the case of Farook and Malik. Fox News, the frothy bullhorn of Americas conservative media, provides a perfect example. On Friday, Foxs lead headline was: TERRORISM HITS HOME: FBI finally calls investigation into Southern Cal massacre an act of terrorism; female gunman took online oath to ISIS chief
-snip-
Foxs handling of Farooks and Maliks shooting contrasts starkly with its reporting on Dears shooting of a Planned Parenthood. Fox repeatedly referred to Dear as the gunman and did not mention his religion or discuss terrorism as a possibility. It only briefly stated that it was not clear if his motive was related to the organization. This statement was preposterous on its face. The article then speculated about Dears mental health.
The article described the police officer, Garrett Swasey, who was murdered by Dear, as a courageous man and loving father who drew strength and inspiration from his Christian faith. While this is perfectly reasonable coverage of a shooting victim, its juxtaposition with reporting that pretends that no religious motive for the attacks could exist, is a way of obfuscating the radicalism that drove Dear. When a shooter is a Muslim radical, Fox blames Islam. When the shooter is a Christian radical, Fox fawns over Christianity.

He also ignored the massacre of nine churchgoers attending a Bible study in Charleston, South Carolina, allegedly by Dylann Roof, or the work of the anti-abortion Christian terrorists known as the Army of God.
Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber, was responsible for the deaths of 168 people and 600 injured in the largest act of domestic terrorism to date.
And let's not forget the Ku Klux Klan.

Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush said over the weekend that the U.S. should respond to the terrorist attacks in Paris by carefully screening out Syrian refugees who are not Christians.
As it relates to the refugees, I think we need to do thorough screening, Bush told CNNs Jake Tapper on Sunday. And take a limited number. But ultimately, the best way to deal with the refugee crisis is to create safe zones inside of Syria so that people dont risk their lives, and you dont have what will be a national security challenge for both our country and for Europe of screening.
But there was one group which should be allowed to take refuge in the U.S., the former Florida governor argued.
There are a lot of Christians in Syria that have no place now, he explained. Theyll be either executed or imprisoned, either by Assad or by ISIS. And I think we should have we should focus our efforts as it relates to the Christians that are being slaughtered.
