(15,951 posts)because he is dominating the political news. The media and establishment Republicans dismissed him saying he was a flash in the pan for months--but he is still leading the polls and in many ways establishing the dialogue of the campaign.
TIME "Person of the Year" isn't selected by internt polls and never has been and they also don't ONLY select "good" people. After all Hitler was "Man of the Year" in 1938.
BTW, here is the criteria that TIME uses:
The criterion is the person or persons who most affected the news and our lives, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year.
