because he is dominating the political news. The media and establishment Republicans dismissed him saying he was a flash in the pan for months--but he is still leading the polls and in many ways establishing the dialogue of the campaign.

TIME "Person of the Year" isn't selected by internt polls and never has been and they also don't ONLY select "good" people. After all Hitler was "Man of the Year" in 1938.

BTW, here is the criteria that TIME uses:

The criterion is “the person or persons who most affected the news and our lives, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year.”

themselves from reporting on every asinine thing he says, not because he's doing or saying anything worth reporting on. They keep giving him all sorts of free publicity, then wonder why he stays at the top of the RW charts.

Trump likes to say controversial things that people talk about and thus will turn on their TVs for.

If they're not going to let us have Bernie, I'd suggest everyone pump up BLM activists to avoid Trump getting it.

Trump isn't even close in terms of world events. He is small time. Really.

I'm not sure why you thought Malala would be on it. She hasn't really had much of an influence sadly and I bet most people don't even know who she is.

Influental isn't always a positive aspect.

Hitler made the cover one year.

You may now resume your regularly scheduled outrage.

I would say he is pretty influential, but no mention of him on the "real" list.
