Father of Paris attacker "I would have killed him myself beforehand", if he knew of plot

I can't even imagine how his parents must feel.

"Paris (AFP) - A third gunman involved in last month's massacre at a Paris concert hall was identified Wednesday as a Frenchman who had visited Syria, with his father saying he "would have killed him" if he had known his plans.

Foued Mohamed-Aggad 23, blew himself up in the bloodiest of the attacks on the French capital -- at the Bataclan concert venue, where 90 young music lovers were killed.

"I would have killed him myself beforehand," his father, Said Mohamed-Aggad, told AFP after French Prime Minister Manuel Valls announced the name of the assailant.

{snip}

The gunman's mother went to the police after receiving a text message from Syria at the end of last month, her lawyer Francoise Cotta told AFP.

"Your son died a martyr with his brothers on November 13," read the message, apparently sent by Foued's wife in Syria..."

who went to police after receiving that text. Without her help, they may not have identified him.

Also, one thing that strikes me often about the stories of these terrorists, so many of them have a history of drug abuse. It's interesting to me, but I don't know what it really means.

many Westerners assume that if the turrsts ignored their mullahs and just got laid, had a night out, and smoked a bowl the whole thing would be over--that terrorism is basically the Grinch with a gun, opening fire on people having too much of a good time

it's neat, it matches our vision of wild-eyed ayatollahs and grim Inquisitors and the destruction of Merry Mount and the ban on Christmas

CIA and FBI guys debriefing captured bombers are always perplexed by how much more they know about AQ motivations than its actual members: they're just cut off from everything else until they're ready to kill someone for a cliche; so weed, liquor, sleeping around, and ignoring the adhan seems to be characteristic of both the Paris attacks; the Mumbai shooters were so dosed they could barely stand
