Rahm Has Damaged The Holidays For The People Of Chicagoland And The Loop Merchants.....

I've talked with a number of neighbors and friends that traditionally go to downtown Chicago during the holidays to visit the Christkindlmarket (German Christmas Market); Macy's (formerly Marshall Field's) to see the Oak Room tree and have a holiday dinner; walk State Street to view the decorated Christmas windows and to round out their Christmas shopping.

This year - because of the Police scandal and the cover-up by the Mayor - it appears that everyone is to afraid to go downtown because of all the protests in and around the Loop and the potential for possible outbreak of trouble. Also - all of these protests are just inconveniencing. It's hard to take a kid to look at the window displays when protesters and police on bicycles are blocking the sidewalks and the view. Also - what do you tell your kid that is frightened by the show of force by the police and the chants of the protesters.

Don't get me wrong - I support the protesters and what they are doing - in fact they are probably too effective in their protests which is causing people to think twice about going downtown and carrying out their Christmas traditions. I agree with them and want Rahm and Alverez to resign. If Rahm is really serious about his feelings for this city - he should step down.

I'm sure that this is having an effect on the merchants business and ability to make some money over the holidays - both in the stores and the Christmas Market. A lot of sales tax revenue that would go to the city - is being lost. Not to mention parking fees, restaurants being effected by lack of people.

So not only are the People of Chicagoland (the surrounding suburbs) and the merchants feeling the effects - but I'm sure that there is a big economic hit to the city - due to loss of revenues that they normally count on this time of year.

For the good of the People of Chicagoland and Chicago City proper and the merchants - Rahm should do the right thing and resign.

That would go a long way to restore the trust. Along with the DOJ investigation and the impending changes that will make things better - we'll all benefit.

Do the right thing Rahm - Resign!!!!!!
