‘Ten Commandments’ Judge Roy Moore: Secularism leads to Sharia law

The man who is likely to be Alabama’s next chief justice is warning that secular government will lead to Islamic law in the United States.

In an interview with conservative talk show host Steve Deace last week, Roy Moore opined that “a government that is denying God” was also allowing Sharia law to take hold.

The Republican candidate explained that he had no regrets after the Alabama Court of the Judiciary was forced to strip him of the chief justice title in 2003 because he rejected a federal court order to remove his Ten Commandments monument from the state courthouse.

“I firmly believe that only God can heal our land and he is waiting for the American people to wake up to what’s going on around them about a government that is denying God and in doing so is bent on taking away those rights and liberties and freedoms given to us by God, in contradiction to the very organic law from which we are based,” Moore explained on Friday. “I never regretted what I did, I did exactly what I knew I was to do and that is to stand firm and not let some federal judge tell me to remove a monument, which he had no right to do anyway.

I left a comment, because I remember this asshole:

I was in AlaBAM way back in the '03, when old Judge Roy was responsible for that entire Ten Commandments fiasco at the State Supreme Court building,

Every day, in the brain-baking heat of the Southern Sun, a rowdy scrum of bible thumpers stood on the steps of the building, praying against the removal of Roy's pet monument; a large granite, graven image of which, oddly enough, had engraved into it an admonition to not worship graven images.

I'm sure that that one went right over their pointy little heads.

Now, quite typical of this pious gaggle of brain donors was one gentle supporter who was kind enough to allow himself to be interviewed by a local reporter for a TV news story. The reporter asked the man why he was there up on the State Supreme Court steps and he answered, "Because I support the Ten Commandments and the First Amendment."

Fair enough.

But this is where it got interesting; the reporter also asked the man that, if the monument was either a Jewish or an Islamic one, would he support it too? Of course, you can just guess the coming answer. He told the reporter, "No, because the Ten Commandments is Christian and this is a Christian nation."

Now, I'm glad that I saw that little exchange for myself, because I wouldn't have believed it, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. It was incredible that someone could be such a freaking hypocrite and an utter moron all at once in public with just two simple-minded answers.

Especially, to publicize this fact to a TV audience. Remember, this was before the days of You Tube, where now idiots from all walks of life are free to spread their own idiocy freely and with aplomb for the benefit of the rest of us.

Now first, the Ten Commandments is part of the Torah, as it is known in Jewish circles. This would make the Commandments Jewish, not Christian by definition, right? How did he not know that? And second, the First Amendment protects the free exercise to worship of ALL religions, not just his own. That would invalidate ANY notion that this is a "Christian Nation."

Face Palm time.

Don't forget that these are the fools that we're dealing with, my friends… Pious, hateful, hypocritical and dumber than a bag of hammers.

And you want to know what the worst part is? They VOTE.

So, be scared, people… Be very, very scared.

It's Qur'an based justice, usually adjudicated by a mullah, usually applied to social or family law.

I see ZERO chance that anyone is actually going to VOTE for a mullah in a Judicial election.

And HOW, exactly does "secular government" lead to an EXTREME form of theocratic law?

But you see, the problem is, they would like the exact same thing in America, Christian version.

But how to you reconcile Muslim law bad, Christian law good, when they are pretty much the exact same thing?

You twist your brain into all sorts of knots to equate secular with sharia.

Personaly, the stupidity of the statement should bar him from the bench. How can anyone trust any of his judgements?

and a vacuum will let Sharia law in.

But then he forgot about the First Amendment and that government shall not Establish a religion or prohibit the Free Exercise thereof. He must have known about it when he passed the bar examination.

There can be no Sharia law in the U.S. and no Catholic Law and no Fundy Law. Churches are separate. What a maroon.

To paraphrase him: "If you are freely practicing your religion, thank a secularist." It is ONLY in a constitutionally secular society that religious freedom and diversity may exist.

18. Perfectly Logical From His Point Of View, Sir
Wed May 30, 2012, 03:13 PM

If his deity is not properly worshiped, demons will move in and take over. He believes the supernatural is real, and humans are the stake in a conflict between his deity and its demonic enemies: humans cannot avoid participating in this struggle, only choose sides in it, and whatever someone may think of their choice, any choice which is not allegiance to his deity is alignment with demons. He will believe that all other deities besides his own which people may worship are in fact demonic counterfeits, and he will certainly class 'Allah' among these demonic impostors, viewing Mohammed as a classic case of demonic possession. To him, 'Sharia Law' is the ultimate expression of demonic influence on earth, so whatever does not uphold Christianity, his deity, is indeed working to bring about imposition of Sharia Law, since not upholding Christianity is in fact aligning with demons, and increasing their influence.

But if his belief in the supernatural and its operation is taken as axiomatic, then the various steps would seem to follow logically. A 'garbage in, garbage out' scenario.

That is easily one of the best concise explanations of how fundamentalist Christians view the world that I have read. I can attest to its veracity as for several years during part of high school and college I was part of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal movement that swept the country in the 1970s. I never did fall for all of the beliefs, like creationism and the inerrancy of the Bible, but I did go to prayer meetings and spoke in tongues. During those couple of years, I met many people who believed exactly as you described. One of the key moments in my recovery was when I was talking to a friend of mine in college, mentioned I was a Christian and her response was 'oh but you can't be - you don't worship the devil.' What she meant was that I didn't turn every minor mishap into a 'the devil did that to me or caused it to happen to weaken my faith or to tempt me away from my God'. That day marked the beginning of leaving Christianity behind. Thank you very much for your insightful post.

People that have that point of view have become Governors, and Senators and Representatives in our state legislatures and also in our U.S. Congress.

And now one wants to become the President of the United States.

"Corporations are people, my friend" will become "the United States is a Christian nation, my friend" real quick this summer as Romney tries to woo Republicans into voting for him.
