I did this in 2012 and 2013. Somehow, I missed last year.
The disaster was just beginning.
I know; Roosevelt said "which," not "that."
The Supreme Court delivered its decision in Bush v. Gore on this day in 2000, declaring that Bush would occupy the White House for the next eight years.
Also, if you own an Oldsmobile, you know that it was on the same day that General Motors announced that it would be stopping production of Oldsmobiles.

It is confidence in the men and women who administer the judicial system that is the true backbone of the rule of law. Time will one day heal the wound to that confidence that will be inflicted by today's decision. One thing, however, is certain. Although we may never know with complete certainty the identity of the winner of this year's Presidential election, the identity of the loser is perfectly clear. It is the Nation's confidence in the judge as an impartial guardian of the rule of law."
Justice John Paul Stevens.
Unfortunately, this unashamed and unapologetic Liberal and champion of the People over Corporations

(57,627 posts)FDR was pretty well educated. He must have known which word was right. Maybe a speechwriter persuaded him to say "which" for emphasis.
My FWIW is that I used to snap up grammar handbooks when I would see them at library book sales and yard sales. Unfortunately, you probably would not be surprised to hear the mistakes made by highly paid people at work or in the media. "Send an email to he and I," that sort of thing. Also, people can't seem to get "whoever" and "whomever" figured out. It's not that hard.
Well, I'll go yell at the kids to get off my yard now.
Thank you for writing.
