http://www.salon.com/2015/12/15/whites_against_trump_kamau_bell_tells_white_people_yes_even_you_good_liberals_to_come_get_your_boy/Donald Trump isnt a Republican issue or a rich people issue or a human issue. Donald Trump is a white people issue. Whenever Ben Carson says batshit crazy nonsense, Black people rise up, and let him know that he needs to STFU. Whenever Raven-Symone pops off, we put her cap back on. We even handled Rachel Dolezal for you. Yes, we also make jokes and come up with clever memes and hashtags, but at the core of all that is that we are letting these people know that they are embarrassing us as Black people. It is time, white people, for you to finally step up and recognize that you also (even more so) have a responsibility to your race. It is up to you to silence Donald Trump. Dont just insult him and make fun of him. You have to connect it to your race. Recognize that he is embarrassing you as a white person. Simple snark wont win here. You have to feel it. You have to use words like as a white person and he is an embarrassment to my race. Stop acting like Trump isnt the pinnacle and the result of Americas history and tradition of white supremacy. And again, P.S.: Simply put, white people, come get your boy....
Kamau,
This idea fascinates me on a lot of levels. First of all, youve hit on something very true: white people in this country never feel any need or any pressure to denounce/regulate/distance themselves from other white people when those white people act out of pocket. Black people, and every other racial/ethnic/religious/sexual minority, understand come and get your boy all too well. Being forced to account for someone elses words or actions is particularly old hat for black people as is being made to speak on behalf of All The Black People, as translators or apologists, whether they want to or not. Similarly, everybody but white people has become well acquainted with the feeling of oh fuck, please dont let him be while waiting to find out the identity of a criminal, an alleged criminal hell, at this point, even a victim.
All this is because whiteness is invisible. To white people, anyway. The idea of checking Donald Trump just because hes white makes as much sense to us as the idea of chastising an elephant for taking a dump just because were both carbon-based life forms.

(8,760 posts)I look forward to his new show on CNN next year.....although the CNN part scares me.
How much truth can get through the CNN filter?

(3,447 posts)Pick a side and stick with it. Either everyone should condemn everything from their 'race' (what is a race?) and/or 'color' (how do I tell who is 'White'? 'Black'? 'Turquoise'?), or it's an individual problem. No half and half, no bigotry disguised as 'nuance', none of that.
The D&C is getting out of hand.

(2,884 posts)Lots of newspapers have exposed Trump for the demagogue he is.
(the NYT comes to mind)
Are all their journalists blacks or eskimos?

(2,841 posts)how about everyone, white or otherwise, focus on getting Trump away from the White House?

(2,197 posts)then you need to look at Donald Trump, as that's ~95% of his appeal...and the other Republicans aren't any better, really.

American Jews forced to condemn Israel.
Etc etc.

(15,317 posts)Ignoring that won't help fight against Trump. Personally I think the GOP deserves him. Fitting candidate for today's GOP.

(20,176 posts)I've been denouncing him for months and all I get from it is told that he's "misunderstood" and has "great ideas that scare the mainstream of both parties" by his supporters.
If it were up to me, I'd lock him in a cage in Hell with Hillary (Yup, I consider them to be equal threats to the American wellbeing and equivalently unsuited to the Presidency. It's why I will never vote for either of them.) to oppose each other for President of their cage in Hell and we could all go back to trying to solve America's real problems: inequality and structural unfairness, environmental and economic concerns, infrastructure and social services, healthcare and a looming retirement crisis, unemployment and energy dependency.
We don't need any Nazis or MIC/Wall Street Corporatist puppets for President. A fascist is a fascist any way you slice it; Illary's just a more-business minded fascist like Mussolini while Trump's a racist fascist like Hitler.

(7,107 posts)1) Where has been this big rise up by black people against Carson. I've seen more disruption of Hillary and Bernie campaigns by blacks than all of Carsons combined. Get off your high horse, blacks haven't done much against Carson.
2) Trump has been blasted by white people in/out of the media continuously.
