Cher slams Ted Cruz, he mistakes it for a compliment.

'Cher has become the latest American pop culture figure to express outrage and fear at the increasingly extremist nature of the republican party, now that openly racist politicians like Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are running the show. The singer took to Twitter to spell out just what it is about Cruz that terrifies her. Despite her clearly negative words, Ted Cruz retweeted Cher in a manner which suggested he couldn’t tell the difference.

In typically abbreviated Twitter fashion to fit within the 140 character limit, Cher tweeted “As Judas Was 2 Jesus, So Is Ted Cruz 2America. Read What He’s Written&Watched What He’s Said,4 Yrs. He ALWAYS TERRIFIED ME.” This prompted supporters of Cruz to respond with sexist slurs and outright death threats, a violation of Twitter’s terms of service. But Cruz himself, or whoever may be monitoring his account, had a completely incongruous response.

“Cher, thanks for the kind sentiments,” said Ted Cruz while retweeting Cher’s condemnation. Did he (or his social media handler) mistake words like “he always terrified me” for some kind of compliment, or did he simply not bother to read it at all? Meanwhile, supporters of Ted Cruz have continued to assault and threaten Cher as the evening goes on.'
