NY Post Sparks Outrage With Jared Fogle ‘Enjoy a Foot Long’ Prison Rape Cover

Newspaper jokes about Subway spokesperson after he pleads guilty to allegations that he paid for sex acts with minors

Former Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle should “enjoy a foot long in jail,” according to the New York Post‘s Thursday cover, which features a photograph of Fogle leaving the courthouse amid child pornography charges.

The controversial cover comes a day after Fogle said he will plead guilty to receiving and distributing child pornography, as well as engaging in an unlawful sex act with a minor, but it did not sit well with all of the paper’s readers.

Joking about the sex scandal turned the Post into a top Twitter trend, sparking outrage from some users of the social media platform who thought it was insensitive to joke about the sensitive subject.

I just heard someone bring it up on TV. I actually though it was from a couple weeks ago when he was sentenced.

Everyday, the NYP cover is worthy of, at least amazement...

This one is one in a series of about 365 per year of stupidity.

Why this one now???

A search of DU's fairly recent history will reveal quite a few prison rape jokes, most of them masquerading as declarations of righteousness.

I'm glad that DU as a whole has moved away from this, but I suspect that the sentiment still lingers below the surface and simply isn't expressed.

But now I understand the true horror of prison rape, and I am disgusted at myself for having done so. It's horrible that the Post is perpetuating this stuff.

Given what he did to the children, people want to him to feel the pain that he put the children through. I don't believe that we should be promoting state sanctioned sexual assault, but I do understand the people that feel that way.

Let him serve his fifteen years and then just go the fuck away.
