And that the judge ordered them to keep deliberating for now. How the fuck could they be deadlocked?!? No, don't answer, that was rhetorical. Still pisses me off.

... and the prosecutors took the chance on having this guy as their first prosecution.

If it worked, then they can flip him against the others but if he is found 'not guilty' then all bets are off.

There are people who just will not convict or second guess a police officer, and they won't be swayed by any evidence. The defense seeks out those types of authoritarians. It's a key reason so few bad officers go to jail.
