Watch this video first (start at 40 seconds)
then watch this
The similarities are jaw dropping, if you haven't played half life 2, the first video is a compilation of audio segments from random parts of the game from the games antagonist fascist dictator who you eventually topple. The NRA uses the exact same 'it's life or death we need to fight these dangerous fascists' mannerisms against Obama / democrats / media that the fascist leader uses against you as the freedom fighter / protagonist in the game half life 2. This similarity is almost frightening. I swear you cant make this stuff up.

"Enter the modern National Rifle Association. Before the nineteen-seventies, the N.R.A. had been devoted mostly to non-political issues, like gun safety. But a coup détat at the groups annual convention in 1977 brought a group of committed political conservatives to poweras part of the leading edge of the new, more rightward-leaning Republican Party. (Jill Lepore recounted this history in a recent piece for The New Yorker.) The new group pushed for a novel interpretation of the Second Amendment, one that gave individuals, not just militias, the right to bear arms. It was an uphill struggle. At first, their views were widely scorned. Chief Justice Warren E. Burger, who was no liberal, mocked the individual-rights theory of the amendment as a fraud.

(34,172 posts)The politicalization of the NRA corresponded with the politicalization of gun control. In 1968 the Gun Control Act changed the landscape forever.

(5,648 posts)Dana Loesch is not only a certified bitch, she is paid by the NRA to lie. Well, maybe not, but if she believe that all of that trash, she is psychotic and is in serious need of help.
I have never seen such a nasty attack. It is so over the top that it is unbelievable by all but the most most loony tunes gun rights advocates.

(34,172 posts)I'm NRA and I hate stuff like that. I couldnt watch but a little bit.
The NRA's communications are filled lies, exagerations, and hyperbole. And I hate it.
Sadly it works or at least some of it does.
I thought that The NRAs response to Sandy Hook was going the the end of WLP and extreme rhetoric but after defeating the massive push for gun control WLP is more powerful than ever.
