NC Considers Making Sea Level Rise Illegal

Brilliant approach to global warming solutions

"Here’s a link to the circulated Replacement House Bill 819. The key language is in section 2, paragraph e, talking about rates of sea level rise: “These rates shall only be determined using historical data, and these data shall be limited to the time period following the year 1900. Rates of seas-level rise may be extrapolated linearly. …” It goes on, but there’s the core: North Carolina legislators have decided that the way to make exponential increases in sea level rise – caused by those inconvenient feedback loops we keep hearing about from scientists – go away is to make it against the law to extrapolate exponential; we can only extrapolate along a line predicted by previous sea level rises.

Which, yes, is exactly like saying, do not predict tomorrow’s weather based on radar images of a hurricane swirling offshore, moving west towards us with 60-mph winds and ten inches of rain. Predict the weather based on the last two weeks of fair weather with gentle breezes towards the east. Don’t use radar and barometers; use the Farmer’s Almanac and what grandpa remembers."

Which seems to be a glaring omission on the part of FSM, if you ask me.

I know that these nitwits have convinced themselves that global climate change is some grand conspiracy to cripple America's exceptional exceptionalism by making us live more frugally, I get that. What I don't quite get is their rock bottom belief that someone, somewhere is in line for a shitload of money made off of people living a less wasteful lifestyle. It's as if by trading in a Hummer for a Prius, George Soros (or somebody) pockets some serious coin.

I know I'm trying to drink whiskey from a bottle of wine looking for some logic here, but Jesus Jumping Christ, this shit doesn't make sense to me even when I'm stoned out of my gourd.

...when I realize that we are living on the Planet of the Apes. Quite literally.

For 99.9% of us (all of us), emotions trump reason every time. That's just where we're at as a species.

I'm just glad we finally stopped throwing feces at each other.

It is said that some midwestern state legislature once tried to make pi 22/7 because it's pretty close and would be easier to work with.

Probably an apocryphal story... but one that has become all too plausible.

How cool is that? Creationists should make laws on how evolution is studied so it will be easy to debunk. Then creationism can be taught in schools!

They are trying to make it illegal to use facts. No wonder this state is going backasswards. They are purposely taking us backasswards.
