A commenter named WashingtonpstO48 wrote this, and it made me cheer; it's so smart!
I have been a political junkie for most of my 59 years on this earth, and what I see happening now to the Republican party has it's roots firmly planted in their "Southern Strategy", and the "Reagan Revolution". They systematically worked to convince the white working man that their party was the party who really cared about them, and once they reeled them in, they have done nothing but throw them under the bus with their economic policies that have decimated unions, good paying manufacturing jobs, and any safety net that might have helped them rebuild their lives once those jobs were shipped overseas.
They have made it almost impossible for these very same people to obtain an education, that might have given them some critical thinking skills, so that they could actually educate themselves about the abysmal policies of the GOP, and how they have led to their lives being miserable, so instead they sit in front of a TV or a radio all day, being told over and over again how evil liberals are, and how they are coming for your guns and waging a war on your Christianity, so vote for us and your lives will be wonderful.
Now they shake their heads, and wring their hands, and wonder why their base is so angry, and why some fast talking charlatan can come along and brain wash them into believing that he as a billionaire understands them and will do their bidding, and they all blindly worship him as their savior. Well GOP, you are reaping what you have sowed for over four decades, and all of those groups you vilified, and got your sheep to believe were the real causes of their white lives being so miserable, are now powerful voting blocks that will never vote for you, and all you have left are basically angry, white, working class men whose lives your economic policies have made miserable, but they are too brainwashed to see who are the real villains.
