One person has died and 36 are injured, six critically, after a car ran into a group of pedestrians on the Las Vegas strip in an incident police have described as intentional.
Officials said the driver mounted the sidewalk at two or three separate locations, first mowing down pedestrians outside the Planet Hollywood resort and casino, before returning to the road and then driving back on to a footpath in front of the Paris hotel.
The driver, a woman in her 20s who has not been identified, was in custody after reportedly attempting to leave the scene of the crash on Sunday evening.
A three-year-old child who was in the car with her was unharmed, authorities said.

ABC News: A 24-year-old woman accused of driving a car on a sidewalk and through a crowd on the Las Vegas Strip, killing one and injuring over 30 others, wouldn't tell police why she drove on the sidewalk, but did say she remembered a body bouncing off her windshield and breaking it, the arrest report reveals.

ABC News: Holloway previously lived in Oregon, where she changed her name in October to Paris Paradise Morton, according to court records.
Several years ago, she graduated from an alternative high school in Portland and received an award for overcoming adversity from the nonprofit Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center, which helps at-risk youths with education and job training.
After her arrest Sunday, she told investigators she was homeless and out of money, and sleeping in her car in casino parking garages. She said she was getting little rest because casino security would run her off. She might have been on her way to Texas to find the estranged father of her daughter, authorities said.
Holloway showed no resistance when police arrived, and she spoke coherently about what happened, the sheriff said. A police drug-recognition expert said it appeared she wasn't drunk but may have been under the influence of a stimulant...

Was Holloway's intent to return to Oregon from Texas via Vegas as she told family members, or did she make a separate trip there, as cousin Agum suggests? Paris Paradise Morton has a nice selfie-porn ring to it -- was she planning go into the Vegas escort business? Assuming that the baby daddy had slipped her some traveling money, why didn't she go to a Vegas shelter if she had no place to go -- because it might cost her custody of her child?

The accident happened outside the hotel where the Miss Universe fuckup, I mean pageant, was taking place. With better timing, the defense would be able to claim that Holloway lost control of the car when she heard about it on the car radio!

KGW.com: (Holloway) was also featured in a POIC video as a case study in resilience after starting college and getting a job with the U.S. Forest Service. Today I am not the same scared girl I used to be. I am a mature young woman who has broken many generational cycles that those before hadnt, she said in the video. Being homeless and struggling on my own taught me to stand on my own two feet. I managed to land a federal job at age 21 now that is what I call living the grand life.

She had her baby in 2012, started going downhill aftewards -- could post partum depression be at the root of all this?
