Martin Shkreli's lawyer wants two weeks in Cancun + feels need to prove "not a flight risk"

I have not problem with a dude going on vacation, but if he's a lawyer and feels compelled to prove he's "not a flight risk" - I'd have to wonder if I was getting the most upright legal representation possible.

Or, if it's specific to this case, I'd wonder if the lawyer himself is under investigation.

"Mr. Greebel has every reason to return to address the present case and not become a fugitive"

"Not become a 'fugitive'" - what the hell? Either he has a shady background or he's in on it too. Probably both.

I don't normally participate in schadenfreude, but considering this douchebag mad a fortune off the pain and suffering of others, I say pass the butter.

Dude planned a major vacation with his family, paid a bunch of money for it, kids and wife all excited. I'm sure he was looking forward to it too. Then Wonder Boy gets arrested and he wants to ask his "boss" (the judge) if it's cool if he takes this planned and paid for vacation and lists the reasons why.

Now, I'll admit I don't know anything about this other than Wonder Boys is a dick and the flight risk thing is something you would only expect from a defendant so you might be right. If so, screw him! If it were you or I, even for a lesser crime, our vacations, home or kids would mean squat to the judge.

I bet he gets his vacation either way. If he's clean, no problem dude. Go. Have fun. Shkreli can cool his heels in a cell until you get back. If he's a defendant then he still gets to go because he's rich and they play by a different set of rules.

particularly because of the shitstorm next year will be for him.

I was befuddled by his need to promise he wasn't going to be a "flight risk" and would return and "not be a fugitive". Those are my real WTF points on this item.

That's what I was saying about if he's being a defendant or under suspicion or some such thing. I don't know, he could be. As I said, I agree, something is weird if they felt that was the first reason for approving the vacation and his family was second. Only defendants are normally flight risks. It does some weird.

is Martin Shkreli's co-defendant in the securities fraud case, not his lawyer. He was arrested the same day as Shkreli and is currently out on one million dollars bail.
