what is the deal with time magazine's image of angela merkel? just looked at the series of

"persons of the year"--and hers is the only one that is a painting--and a very unattractive one, at that.

Because Time didn't choose "that awful image". They commissioned him to do a painting and used the one he produced.

She did nothing, just reaping the harvest of Schröder's reforms.

While planting the seeds of future confrontation over secular democracy vs religion.
