Numerous traffic accidents involving several vehicles were reported Thursday in the Omaha area due to slick road conditions caused by an early morning snowstorm.

Douglas County emergency 911 dispatchers tweeted around 8:15 a.m. that the majority Omaha-area roadways were "sheets of ice,’’ with multiple vehicles and crashes blocking roads.

Traffic on the West Dodge Road Expressway from 114th Street to 120th Street was at a standstill Thursday morning, according to dispatchers. Later, Omaha police estimated that 100 vehicles were tied up on the Expressway.

Authorities also said an estimated 150 vehicles were not moving at mid-morning on North 72nd Street around Maple Street.

We are leaving on Saturday from Michigan to North Carolina. Fingers are crossed that the worst precipitation we encounter is a little rain.

Most, if not all of Michigan is still a snow free zone and I don't see any in the forecast. So strange.

He should have spent the extra $ to fly straight to Omaha. He saved $ even renting a car for the rest of the trip to Omaha.
