The region may need to gird for more snow, as weather forecast models Friday suggested that a significant storm would hit the region Monday.

Cold air will be in place — the high temperature is expected to be near 27 degrees — though the National Weather Service said snow amounts would depend on the timing and track of the system, factors that were not yet clear.

The big post-Christmas shopping days Saturday and Sunday are expected to come with a chance of rain and snow, though forecasters expect little accumulation. Temperatures are to fall below freezing by 5 p.m. Saturday. Wind gusts might reach 29 mph.

Sunday is expected to be sunny, with winds up to about 20 mph and nighttime lows around 15 degrees.
