What blows me away is how justice is not served in the US!

I was looking at 'Lock up' and there is this couple, white female and black male, they were selling drugs as a couple. The female got 8 months and the male got 8-9 years in jail. Both were complicit and I kept wondering how on earth is that justified!

This kind of crap has to stop.

he was a good person. My original question was that both were complicit in selling drugs and the justice system is so skewed, that she got eight months and he got eight years! If that does not make you mad, I cannot explain how I feel!

Is it possible that he had more charges than she did?

A difference in their past criminal histories could also explain the difference in sentences.

valid. However, lock-up documentary provide information on prior convictions and they did not provide any. To me, it was two people caught selling drugs and one got a lighter sentence than the other and the male being locked up is not helpful as he now cannot work and provide for the child that he is accountable for. They both have a child together.

then there's nothing for me to be angry about. He may have made a choice: his freedom for hers. And the State would gain by not having to pursue a long trial. This happens all the time, and absent any evidence it hasn't happened in this instance, I can't muster much outrage over what is SOP in the criminal justice system.

And it may have had nothing to do with his being black, his being a man, or his being an equal partner in crime. It's just the way the law works at times.

Black men do get screwed over in American jurisprudence. Drug dealers can get treated harshly in the Courts. Lovers (or friends) can sacrifice for the benefit of others.

There's too many options for outrage, too many points for acknowledgement, to pick or choose any particular response, absent further clarification.

it is just mind boggling to watch the many miscarriages of justice in that show. Or at least what should be justice.

The 40 month sentence....is SLIGHTLY less than the six years sought by federal prosecutors. (caps are mine) So kind to tell us 40 is slightly less than 72....

very often get stuck holding the bag criminal men set them up with, this is the actual paradigm and you could read about it, but not learn about it on MSNBC 'doc blocks'.

3. There is no justice. There can only be mercy.
