Michael Moore re: Trump's Support In Michigan: "The Republican Party Is Really A Dead Party"

When asked if Trump has a lot of support in his home state of Michigan, Moore explained why the Republican Party is dead.

“Yeah, I would say so. But only among white guys. It’s just a white-guy thing. Let me give you a statistic: 81 percent of the electorate in 2016 will be either female, people of color or young adults between 18 and 35. They don’t look like those men on stage for the Republican debates. When school started in September, for the first time ever the majority of our kindergartners were not white. We are not the America those guys grew up in, or the America they think they’re talking to. Those three groups they have alienated: women, people of color and young people. By turning off 81 percent of the electorate, what is their plan to get into the White House? They can’t make it happen anymore. I mean, it really is a dead party.”

whole. US has 17.4% Hispanic or Latino people, Michigan as 4.8%. They also have more people who are white alone, 75.8% to the US 62%. Fewer Asians at 2.9% vs 5.4%. Michigan has 1 percentage point more African Americans than the national average, and several points less for other minorities and several additional white percentage points.
First term, Snyder got 58%. Second he got 51%. Tight little window there.

Moore's argument is demographic. So that's where I went with it.

sure in 2012 it was a gerrymandority but it's still hard to break their power. Problem is when the Democrats get in, as in 93-4 and 09-10 they pull their punches while the GOP fights tooth and nail. The base of the Democratic Party is being systematically betrayed whenever there is a real chance, and it will be QUITE A WHILE before that kind of opportunity comes again, and it will probably be after another disaster of W Bush proportions or worse

I support the Democrats against the phalanx of anus-faced RW automotons spewing out the same assinine talking points called the Republican Party, but really feel that ultimately only a truly transformative movement against corporate capitalism, with an authentic progressive core at least will get the country and the world out of the total mess we're in -- time is running out and the chances are slim before eg climate catastrophe reaches a point of no return, where it's technically impossible to do what MUST be done in time

and that is why they have to rig the vote, gerrymander districts, and have a dirty
media pushing their lies. The demographics for the GOP is brutal and they know
it too.

Presidential politics, the national electorate. Snyder's last election he got 51% and if he faced national demographics he'd have lost.

Michael Moore will embrace the Shafta/Iraq war shit sandwich if it comes from a women or a black guy. Neocon Hollywood has really made him lame. I guess he officially threw his support behind Bernie but he has actually stated that Hillary has put her neocon era behind her despite all evidence to the contrary and was completely silent through all free trade agreements Obama made.

Women and blacks aren't immune from right wingnuttery. Carson and Palin are black or female, and Obama and Hillary are right wing on economic and foreign policy issues.

Wait, not even sleeping.

In Moore's home state of Michigan, Republicans run the House, Senate, and Governor's mansion. And they've been enacting teabagging legislation like crazy. Not dead, not sleeping, not pining for the fjords.

Our Gov't was never meant to be stagnant, we can be assured and know of one thing in life, it is, that everything WILL change. That being said, we have to embrace change in our gov't and in ALL our citizen's. We have to have a progressive gov't or our theocracy's will tear us apart, exactly like the situation in the middle east. Their's ( and ours, equally antiquated religions) of ALL 3 of the most adhered to religions of that region, is what is going to end the world as we once knew it, and possibly in it's entirety, As in, gone, annihilated, finished and no more "pale blue dot", and nowhere to go, if we are even able to go. The whole reason (I believe) that the NASA. gov is sending ALL kinds of manless robots to Mars, is because it is the next closest to the Sun (4) and could possibly be more able to modify for ALL CARBON-based DNA on Earth
