Former Senator Edward Brooke (R-MA) died on January 3, 2015. He was 95. In 2009, he was honored as the first African American to be elected by popular vote to the Senate, where he represented Massachusetts from 1967 to 1979

They had a long, fine and surreptitious romance that went on for quite some time....

His first wife was Italian--she didn't like the whole political thing, and they weren't getting along for a long, long while.
