(46,114 posts)Anyone in business engages in projects using the cover of entities, such as corporations or limited liability companies, so that if anything goes south, the entities have to pay, not the individual person behind the entity. In other words, Donald Trump personally is not likely going to pay the "students" of Trump "University", but the company behind TU will have to cough up the money. The exception to this would be if the entity was fraudulently set up (possible, but another argument for another day) or engaged in criminal activity (a possibility).
