Please don'the get me wrong, they use plenty of it against Democrats for sure, I mean the scarcity of using trash techniques against each other.
Anybody remember Bush in 2000 calling voters in South Carolina primary accusing John McCain of having a black baby? Or pulling out fringe Veterans calling John McCain a traitor to the VC?
I just find it surprising that Jeb, with all his resources and access the the dirtiest political operatives seen in generations, hasn't tried to create a swift boating campaign against his opponents.
My theory is that all of the candidates are terrified of their own supporters of angry, xenophobic, racist, poorly educated primary voters. And hence feel handicap to really pull out the dirty tricks on Trump or Cruz in fear of some kind of backlash. But feel more comfortable pulling them on Rubio or "pseudomoderate/establishment" candidates.

A new book claims that Jeb Bush's allies have been spreading rumors about Rubio
Since there's no evidence that these rumors about Rubio have any truth to them, the mainstream press has tended not to mention them in print. But a whisper campaign like this could well lead GOP elites to be hesitant to fall behind Rubio for fear of a looming scandal.
McKay Coppins of BuzzFeed News provides a glimpse into this process today, in an excerpt from his new book The Wilderness. According to Coppins's account, Rubio's team has fought to bat down two rumors that are particularly persistent: one involving an affair, and another that Rubio is "hiding a secret second family." Coppins reports that allies of Jeb Bush tried to prevent Rubio from running in the first place by "circulating the rumors anew among donors and politicos," and that they "tried to convince a number of influential figures in political media that they had the goods on Rubio."
To be clear: There is absolutely nothing to substantiate any of these rumors....

They're, of course, scared of any actions that might cause their lineup's giant loose flywheel to come off and take them all out.
Other than tRump, though, it seems like they and the Dark Money are just waiting..., waiting..., waiting..., waiting... for their targets to finally emerge as the crowd dwindles away.

(16,254 posts)(call up images of the shocking look on Rove's face when he heard the numbers, Mitt's "but you promised me" look of disbelief, and Ann's realization she was never going to wear that inaugural gown/would have to nurse Mitt out of his despair), he vowed to program the voting machines HIS way!
He's probably in Cheney's Hall of Horrors working the bugs out of his program to make sure the voting totals turn out in the Pubs' favor. He can then retire as the Champion of Cheating and live the rest of his life in luxury due to the plaudits and pay-offs from the devoted 1% who have been so generous in the past.
Last chance, KKKarl, baby! Trump is depending on you.
