Forgive me for posting links to right wing sites, but no one else is covering Cruz' increasingly insane religious rhetoric.
Senator Ted Cruz tells his volunteers about the need to energize and mobilize Christians.
If we awaken and energize the body of Christ if Christians and people of faith come out and vote our values we will win and we will turn the country around, Cruz told volunteers on a conference call Tuesday.
Cruz also said that he is organizing a coalition of pastors in early states including Iowa and South Carolina.
Were working to have a lead pastor in each of the 99 counties in Iowa, 99 pastors are organizing other pastors, Cruz said. Were doing the same thing in South Carolina, organizing pastors in 46 counties to motivate and organize other pastors.
Cruz warned that, as the election nears, the attacks on his campaign will become more vicious.
I want to tell everyone to get ready, strap on the full armor of God, get ready for the attacks that are coming, he warned. Come the month of January we aint seen nothing yet.

(14 posts)Keep telling people that God is providing them with armor and they'll start thinking it's more than a metaphor. "Energize the body of Christ"-sounds more like one of those preachers with private jets than, you know. A presidential candidate.

(764 posts)Cruz is getting the religious right in line and Trump is gathering all the black and Hispanic(in his own mind) so they will be an unbeatable ticket in 2016(again in Trumps own mind only). Talk about traveling down the rabbit hole this race is getting wacko!

(16,862 posts)Nothing would surprise me at this point from the Cruz camp, considering his dad gave a speech saying that Teddy was anointed by God to become president. This is the same evangelical bullshit, down to the hokey catch phrases like "strap on the armor of God" that I grew up around in the 80's, the only exception is that it's being used in a presidential campaign instead of a pulpit. The dominionists of Cruz's ilk want nothing more that to be in positions of political power to force their extreme version of Christianity down the throats of everyone else in this country. There is no compromise when you believe God is on your side. Cruz has become emboldened during his campaign because no one in the media is calling him out for shit like this or the "laying on of hands" he had at another rally this week.
