Ted Cruz Does Not Understand What 'Carpet Bombing' Means

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/ted-cruz-carpet-bomb_569bb8f5e4b0778f46f9a180?cps=gravity_2425_994830815262235130&kvcommref=mostpopular

WASHINGTON -- Ted Cruz on Sunday stood by his claim that the U.S. should "carpet bomb" the Islamic State group out of existence and falsely stated that the George H.W. Bush administration carpet bombed Iraq during the first Gulf War.

"You wanna know what carpet bombing means?" Cruz said, invoking the first Iraq War in 1991. "We were launching 1100 air attacks a day. We were carpet bombing." As a result of this bombing campaign, Cruz said, U.S. troops "mopped up the remains of the Iraqi army" with ease.

The United States did not carpet bomb Iraq or Kuwait during the 1991 Gulf War. The airstrikes were highly targeted and thus highly effective, as military experts told The New York Times. "Carpet bombing" is not even a term used by the American military. But it is generally understood to be the indiscriminate bombing of large geographic areas without regard for potential civilian casualties.

Cruz has been repeatedly mocked by military leaders, human rights advocates and even fellow conservatives for pledging to "carpet bomb" ISIS. During the GOP debate Thursday, he acknowledged that he would not actually bomb entire cities to take out ISIS members embedded within them, but rather target bombing campaigns against key elements of the ISIS militants. That is essentially the Obama administration's strategy.

Considering his campaign manager was:

Director of Operations for the CIA from 1990 - 1993.

He then moved on to Wall Street where he was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley from 1994-1996 and a Vice President at Goldman Sachs from 1996 - 2006.

Sweet then returned to government work serving as the Chief of Staff of the Department of Homeland Security from 2007 to 2009.

Seems like that guy probably could tell you what carpet bombing is.

Ask yourself

Is he clueless?

Or is he, like Trump, coopting the delusional hatred and fear that was the tea party movement.

He's a shit actor.

He lied about the loan, he lied about his connections to banks. He's a fake idiot.

He's hired a CIA stooge/investment banker to run his campaign.

I really think it makes a lot more sense that he's assuming everyone else is an idiot instead of him being one.

and fears of those he's speaking to. Think of it as a dog whistle for mass murder of non-Christians. I live in the Bible Belt, where I often witness nice people agreeing that we will eventually have to use our nuclear weapons against Islam, and of course at every gathering are some who agitate for doing it yesterday. Cruz is speaking to these good people.

It would also be smart to remember that one of his professors at Princeton once described Cruz as beyond brilliant.

at people who told me to turn off cable TV...but I think I might take them up on their offer if Cruz ever becomes Prez.

I really hated GWB but he was creepy in the frat boy 'heh, heh, I took a pee in your drink' kind of way.

Cruz looks like he has bodies buried under the concrete in his basement. And possibly in his backyard. He just exudes creepy vibes out of every orifice. I simply cannot look at that face on TV. Even now I change the channel and I avoid threads on DU with his picture in it.

ETA hahaha, I didn't know this thread had his picture in it because my internet was acting up and the picture didn't load so I scrolled past the OP and didn't see it. It was only after I posted and scrolled back up that I saw that big ass picture. Sheesh. Talk about a fright.

5. Creepy Ted Cruz, who looks like every peeping Tom, said the creepiest thing of the night: "If you want someone to grab a beer with, I may not be that guy. But if you want someone to drive you home, I will get the job done and I will get you home." He might have continued, "I might take a detour to my backwoods sodomy pit with you, but your corpse will be dropped off at your home."

it's been eons since I've 'seen' that movie and truthfully most of it was spent with my back turned (hence the scare quotes - not a fan of the genre) so I have no idea who that is. But now I want to re-watch it just to get the reference, because I have a feeling it is apt.

Ted Cruz is a very smart man who is peddling bulls***
to the Teahadist base for political gain.

It doesn't matter to him if it's true. The believers
eagerly eat it up.
