Glenn Frey had a pretty good, reasonably long life. David Bowie as well. I appreciate both for their contributions, very much.
But Buddy Holly -- had just begun. He was 22, and in love. He'd only been a professional musician for four years and had already written a string of hits, gorgeous music that will live forever. It's all we get of him, period, forever. Like Robert Johnson, one brief flash. Lighting in a bottle.
I wasn't born quite yet when he died. But I remember Buddy Holly.

It is hard to imagine what might have been.

So many people who were just loaded with talent have passed on way too early. Heaven must really be a rockin place.

It's impossible to guess just how much influence Buddy Holly would have had in the music world had he lived. He might well still be alive.
