(51,076 posts)of '07 and '08, (not sure of the exact dates so forgive me if I'm wrong,) We had a lot of ice and many areas out of power and crews from all over the usa came to our rescue so I say this is fair pay. Its how its supposed to be done here in our country. We help one another when the help is needed. Tack a few bucks on my electric bill to help pay for this and I'll not complain one bit.

(11,797 posts)I'm in West Virginia now and we're about to get hammered. I get a day off from work (I teach at WVU). I'm currently surrounded by my three dogs, all brought from Oklahoma, drinking coffee, and trying to tinker with my syllabus.

I hate to see that you've left OK as we need all the good people we can get over here
Between Gov. Mary Fallin and the republiCON legislature we're looking like brownbackistan now.
I know I shouldn't say it looked like a 'war zone' but I don't know another phrase to use to replace that with. I do know what a real war zone looks like though and we weren't there by any stretch. Mybad

(11,797 posts)I'll be back visiting in March. But, the academic world takes one where the jobs are...and I just happened to land one in the Big 12, only on the other side of the country!
It WAS weird driving through Norman, seeing all those big trees gone. During that crazy blizzard, I was stuck out in eastern Oklahoma, trying to get back to Norman for Christmas eve. It took 7 hours to get from Henrietta to Norman on Christmas day.
