The deeper damage done by Sarah Palin: She's spreading a stigma about violent veterans with PTSD

Palin’s implicit assertion that it’s normal or standard for a PTSD diagnosis to lead to physical violence is simply not accurate. And peddling in that kind of misinformation sets back the progress post-9/11 veterans have made in re-integrating after war, whether it’s in school or at work.

Contrary to caricature, those with PTSD — veterans and non-veterans alike — are simply not ticking bombs who could snap at any moment. Research has shown this time and again.

She’s perpetuating an unwarranted stigma that will almost surely cause other veterans with PTSD to hesitate in reaching out for help, especially if they think a diagnosis will hurt their careers.

What Palin offered America on Wednesday was a cynical move to absolve her son of responsibility for his actions by blaming it on the Iraq War and the President.

I have seen PTSd up close and personal. This ain't it. The exact opposite was true. He would go out of his way to not be confrontational.

Little Track Record has a drug and alcohol problem and he gets more violent when he drinks. Starting at age 16. Not after his deployment where he never saw combat. His problem is what led to his enlistment, not the other way around.

Palin is rotten to the core. Using her son's violent behavior as a political tool. But why the hell not in Palinworld? She uses her kids all the time to deflect any criticism of her.

Not surprised at this at all. If she thinks she can prop herself up with them. she will. Otherwise, she wouldn't give two shits about them.

Opportunistic grifter.

is she going to use her power to keep him out of prison. He was on his way to the slammer in the first place so he has a pretty bad record as it is. Or is he going to take his punishment and realize he has severe drinking problems not ptsd like his mommy coddles him with. I blame all of his problems on his dysfunctional drunken mother and the way she raised him. She has trouble with all of her brats. You better wake up Track or you are going to have one fucked up life. Oh, and your mom is nuts too.
