Oregon governor calls on feds to act against armed group

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/oregon-governor-calls-feds-act-against-armed-group

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Oregon's governor said she's frustrated with the way federal authorities are handling an armed group's continued occupation of a national wildlife refuge and it's time to end it.

Exasperated by a tense situation that has caused fear among some southeastern Oregon residents since it began Jan. 2, Gov. Kate Brown said at a news conference Wednesday that federal officials "must move quickly to end the occupation and hold all of the wrongdoers accountable."

"The residents of Harney County have been overlooked and underserved by federal officials' response thus far. I have conveyed these very grave concerns directly to our leaders at the highest levels of our government: the U.S. Department of Justice and the White House," Brown said.

The Democratic governor said the occupation has cost Oregon taxpayers nearly half a million dollars. "We'll be asking federal officials to reimburse the state for these costs," Brown said.

The problem is that the Bundys are not of sound mind and don't seem to care if their children are in the crossfire. In fact they're counting on their children to protect them (as in hostages).

3. Yep, I think a lot of it's just that. Also, although I don't like what they've done, IMO

it has not crossed the line far enough to justify some kind of shootout/harm to anyone.

the National Guard as it's a federal problem on federal lands. I'm no expert, but it seems the Feds have to be the ones to take action. The shit that happened at Kent State angers me as much today as back then. They usually go after soft targets like students, OWS, people of color, those damn hippies, and left leaning citizens. These guys are RW, white and armed, so they get a free pass.

Like a Federal Prison.

I'm beginning to think that there is a CT reason for this bullshit.

Is really doing anything, the idiots are on Fed. land so a fed problem, but they come out to get things and go back, when they leave the fed land they are then subject to local authority... So who is doing what is pretty much a finger pointing operation, no one wants to take the lead on this thing..

11. And local authorities can't arrest them for nothing. No Federal warrants so if they do not commit

an offense while off the refuge you can't arrest them for what they have done there. The few that have been arrested have been caught by local authorities doing something illegal. What do you suggest the local Sheriff arrest them for? Buying cereal?

Of course DU does not want to look at past occupations and learn from those, we want to pretend every time is the fist time! Alcatraz was occupied for 19 months, power on, people came and went by boat. For 19 months. It's odd to me that DU seems to think Nixon should have fire bombed those activists on day one. But it went on for 19 months without a shot being fired.

They have threatened local people and harassed them in attempts to intimidate, I am sure they could come up with something if they really wanted to try... No one wants any sort of fire fight over this but I do really doubt that bunch has the balls to really let it go that far... the are cowards in every way and if really threatened with serious consequences they will fold like last weeks newspaper...I would guess at this point that any negotiations are being based on them being allowed to leave without being arrested...
