when I was walking yesterday and our neighborhood had gotten almost three feet of snow. I saw a car on a street that had been perfectly plowed by a PUBLIC snowplow that had a bumper sticker that said "socialism has never worked." next to an anti Obamacare sticker. I thought of telling the guy that he must have plowed the street himself if socialism has never worked.

and saw stupid shit like that regularly, I think I might carry around some sticky notes just to leave nice little reminders like "socialism just plowed your street" stuck to his windshield.

"socialism filled that pothole down the street today"
"socialism replaced the sewer line on 4th street today"
"this weekend, socialist firetrucks put out the fire at the apartment building on 34th"

They'd get the idea eventually. Maybe they'd take their stupid ass sticker off.

Public services have been around for at least since the Roman times. And the Romans were not socialists. Public services exist under all sorts of economic systems. It shows a real lack of understanding of socialism -- which is a specific economic system -- to says services are "socialism".

I don't think I'm the one with the lack of understanding here (eta nor is the poster you are replying to).

There are so many things that it is easier for a communal entity - called the government to do.

Plowing streets, police, fire, road maintenance etc are the most obvious. It is on the more subtle needs that the public good is less obvious, but just as important if part of your definition of a successful economy is that it meets the needs of the most vulnerable.

Have we really moved from a country that cheered George Bailey to one that admired Potter, for making the most money? I know "It's a wonderful life" is fiction, but I can see that Bailey could be called a Democratic socialist!

put a snow plow on the front of your pickup, she was flabbergasted. LOL! I'll trade you our 7.1 earthquake and 6.4 follow up tremor for your snow.

After a heavy snowfall, Lena watched Ole putting on his snow boots, heavy coat, and flap eared winter hat.

"Where ya goin, Ole?, she asked.

Ole responded that he had to move the car to the other side of the street because the law dictates that on odd days, residents must park on the odd side of the street so that the snow plows can plow the streets.

Lena look at him for a minute, and said,
"Ole, why don't you just leave the car in the garage?"

....even a Trump supporter could comprehend. Well, maybe not a Trump supporter, but at least anyone with 3 or 4 neurons rattling around in their heads.
