He faces a tough battle to fight off his competitors in his bid to reach the White House.
But if Ted Cruz is anything like he was at 18, confidence won't be a problem.
In a bizarre home video unearthed from 1988, then-college student Cruz is seen smirking as he describes his life ambitions.
'Take over the world, world domination...rich, powerful, that sort of stuff,' he chuckles while sitting on the edge of an idyllic water fountain at Second Baptist School in Houston, Texas.
The short clip, posted on YouTube by user Young Ted Cruz, starts with 18-year-old Cruz laughing at his own sarcastic jokes.
'World domination' among aspirations of 18-year old Ted Cruz
In a bizarre home video unearthed from 1988, then-college student Cruz smirks as he describes his ambitions
Cruz (pictured on Saturday in Iowa with his daughter) faces a tough battle to fight off his competitors in his bid to reach the White House. But if he is anything like he was at 18, confidence won't be a problem
He is asked what his aspirations are.
'Aspirations? Is that like sweat on my butt?' Cruz says, then smirks.
He continues: 'No no, oh I see, what you want me to do, what I want to do in life.
'Well my aspiration is to, uh, oh I don't know, be in a teen t*t film - like that guy who played Horatio. You know he was in Malibu Bikini Beach Shop.
'Well, other than that, take over the world, world domination, you know, rule everything. Rich, powerful, that sort of stuff.'
According to Politico, the video was obtained by one of Cruz's college classmates who wished to remain anonymous.

(63,221 posts)I would prefer Trump over him any day. Not that I want a republican at all, but this guy needs to be kept as far away from the White House as possible.

(1,241 posts)He could speed things up if he had his finger on the world destruction button so he could usher in the return of Jesus and be Gods hero. Then God will give him his own planet to rule and he will be the God of his own planet. Kind of like Romney and the Mormon thing.
Delusional Waco.

They take stories from other sources, add clickbait style headers, re-arrange the info a bit (including getting basic facts wrong) and troll for clicks. I cannot believe how frequently crap from that source makes it to DU.
This whole article is just basically stolen from Politico and repackaged (with errors added).
For instance, he wasn't a college student, he was a senior in high school.

(58,724 posts)I am making an unrelated comment regarding the UK Daily Mail and what an awful source is it.
Obviously, Ted Cruz is a right wing loon, but I don't really think a video of him saying stupid things in high school is a particularly fair way to make that judgement.
