Teenage daughters treat their dads however they want. One daughter was embarassed by everything I would say or do, would cringe at being seen with me, and thought I was a total idiot. The other thought I was the greatest, loved going places with me, and thought I was a genius. Now as adults the center of the universe is somewhere other than in their shoes the world is good again and we all love the times we get to spend together.

To act out at that age most likely isn't about 'Its my life and you're not going to tell me what to do'

Sometimes they don't want anybody near them invading their space. Just this morning my 6 year old walked right into school without even the customary hug or kiss goodbye. I don't try to force it.
